Press and media freedom in a number of countries in the South Asian region, such as Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, is in decline. In Pakistan self-censorship in the country’s media is on the increase, particularly on sensitive issues. In India Hindu nationalism and growing self-censorship is contributing to the slide. Many of the Global Voices contributors work as freelancer, independent journalists/bloggers. How can we protect them and show solidarity?
